For Closure

Bio
After introducing themselves via its November 2024 debut full-length Cliffside Serenades, L.A.-based melodic punk act For Closure returns with its second release, the Take Two EP (on Mindpower Records) in September 2025.
This three-song EP features two new original compositions and a cover song of one of its primary influences, Canadian act Doughboys. The title track, “Take Two,” was produced by Michael Rozon, who also recorded albums for some of For Closure members’ previous bands.
“Have you ever felt like your life is a movie? An A-list rom-com that you and your significant other are starring in?” asks For Closure vocalist Gizz Lazlo in his explanation of the title track. “‘Take Two’ is a story about two people who find each other, but as in the movies, one takes this bond as sacred and meaningful, while the other is just in it for what they can get. Always looking for something better. Once that trust is broken you shouldn't go back or let them back in. Life and love shouldn't be like a movie because in the end, there's no ‘Take Two.’”
The aforementioned Doughboys song, “In My Head” from the 1989 album Home Again is the second track, while Take Two closes with the somber, dynamic piano-driven melodies of “Welcome Me Home.”
“I was happy to be able to contribute to the recording of ‘Take Two’ and ‘In My Head’ this time around, since I joined the band just after Cliffside Serenades was recorded,” says guitarist Marc Maxey. “Working with Michael Rozon was super fun. I'd done some mixing and mastering with him on a couple projects around 25 years ago, but never tracked anything with him. He had some great suggestions for guitar parts on ‘Take Two’ that I never would have thought of myself.”
The Southern California quintet—which also includes bassist Steve Brown, drummer Wal Rashidi and guitarist Luis Estefania—has been consistently performing throughout the region and even embarked on its first West Coast tour in Spring 2025. For Closure plays its first East Coast gigs this August and is demoing songs for an upcoming sophomore album.
“Our West Coast tour was a total blast,” says Maxey. “We got to see a bunch of old friends and make a lot of new ones. Nine shows in nine days, it was all super fun except that overnight drive from San Francisco to Seattle! I'm really looking forward to hitting the East Coast next month!”
